Press Release: Flood Watch Issued for New Hampshire Residents
Concord, N.H. — New Hampshire officials are sounding the alarm as a flood watch is now in effect statewide, excluding Coos County. The alert is expected to remain active through Saturday, prompting residents to stay vigilant about rising water levels.
Authorities are advising residents to prepare for possible evacuation should there be an increase in flood threats in their areas. If a flood warning is declared, it indicates imminent flooding, and those affected should seek higher ground immediately.
Drivers are particularly urged to avoid flooded roads, as the depth of water can be deceptive and dangerous.
With rain occurring throughout the month, New Hampshire’s soil has become increasingly saturated, amplifying the risk of flooding. Vanessa Palange of New Hampshire Homeland Security and Emergency Management noted, “Consistent rain leads to saturated ground, causing lakes and rivers to rise, which significantly heightens the risk of localized flooding.”
Residents are encouraged to sign up for emergency alerts and learn more about preparedness by visiting ReadyNH.gov. As conditions develop, officials remind the public to remain informed and ready to take action as necessary to ensure their safety.
