Man Taken Into Custody Following Chase Through New Hampshire and Maine

Man Arrested Following Early Morning Police Pursuit Across State Lines

MAINE, USA — A 48-year-old man from Hampton, New Hampshire, was apprehended early Sunday morning after leading police on a high-speed chase that crossed into Maine. Jason Wagg allegedly fled from officers around 2:20 a.m. following a disturbance reported at a business on Route 1 in Hampton.

According to the New Hampshire Department of Safety, Wagg attempted to strike police vehicles with his 2016 Jeep Compass before heading onto Route 101 and then northbound on Interstate 95. Despite police deploying tire deflation devices in Greenland, Wagg continued driving on flat tires into Portsmouth and crossed the Sarah Long Bridge into Kittery, Maine.

The pursuit ended on Route 1 at the Kittery and York town line when Wagg exited the vehicle and fled on foot. However, he was quickly apprehended with assistance from multiple law enforcement agencies, including those from Maine State Police and Kittery and York police departments. After being evaluated at a hospital, Wagg was taken into custody by the New Hampshire State Police.

He now faces several charges, including disobeying a police officer, operating after suspension, reckless conduct, and breach of bail, with additional charges anticipated from police departments in both Hampton and Kittery. Wagg was also wanted on a no-bail warrant from Rockingham County Superior Court. He is currently held at the Rockingham County jail awaiting arraignment on Monday.
