Two Police Officers Injured in Bedford While Apprehending Suspect
BEDFORD, N.H. — In a dramatic incident early Sunday morning, two police officers from the Bedford Police Department were struck by a vehicle while responding to a disturbance at the Hampton Inn and Suites on Hawthorne Drive. The officers were on patrol when they discovered a car parked with two unconscious individuals inside around 3 a.m.
As backup arrived, the driver, identified as 43-year-old Brandon Legere of Manchester, attempted to flee, colliding with both officers and two police cruisers. Despite the impact, the officers managed to subdue Legere and arrest him at the scene.
The passenger in the vehicle, whose identity has not been disclosed, was also taken into custody due to outstanding warrants and charges related to possession of controlled drugs. Fortunately, both officers received prompt medical attention and were later released from a local hospital.
Legere now faces multiple charges, including assault on a law enforcement officer, reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, felony DUI, and possession of controlled drugs. He is currently held in preventive detention and is expected to appear in court on Monday.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, as police work to clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident and its implications for community safety.
