High Heat and Humidity Coupled with Poor Air Quality

Rising Heat and Humidity Mark New Hampshire’s Workweek

Manchester, NH – After a cool Sunday, residents of New Hampshire can expect a warm start to the workweek, with heat and humidity on the rise. Monday morning greeted some areas with dense fog; however, clearer skies and temperatures climbing to the upper 80s and low 90s are anticipated as the day progresses.

Unfortunately, air quality may decline due to incoming wildfire smoke, leading to hazy conditions. Officials advise those sensitive to smoke or with respiratory issues to limit outdoor activities. Current air quality data can be accessed through the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services.

Monday night will bring mild and muggy conditions with lows in the 60s and the potential for patchy fog. As the week advances, Tuesday is set to be particularly hot, with highs reaching the mid-90s and heat indices approaching 100 degrees. The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for parts of Merrimack, Strafford, Hillsborough, and Rockingham counties from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Wednesday will maintain the heat, but an approaching front could trigger strong thunderstorms in the afternoon. A cool down will follow on Thursday, although clouds and lingering showers may persist, transitioning to brighter conditions by Friday and into the weekend.
