Hampshire Hawks Secure Chris Lynn for Remainder of Vitality Blast

Hampshire Hawks Sign Chris Lynn for Vitality Blast Campaign

Hampshire Hawks have strengthened their squad by signing explosive Australian batsman Chris Lynn for the remainder of the Vitality Blast. The 35-year-old, known for his destructive batting style, joins the team following the international call-ups of South African players Lhuan-dre Pretorius and Dewald Brevis.

Lynn, who played for Northamptonshire Steelbacks during the 2022-23 season, boasts an impressive record of 880 runs with an average of 44 and a striking rate just below 150. He has notched up five centuries and 54 fifties in a remarkable T20 career exceeding 8,000 runs.

Expressing his enthusiasm about returning to Hampshire, Lynn said, “It’s great to return to Hampshire, this time as a pro; I had a brilliant time playing club cricket in the county a while ago.” He aims to contribute significantly to the Hawks’ campaign as they pursue a place in the Finals Day.

Lynn is a household name in Australia’s Big Bash League, where he showcased his talent with Brisbane Heat and Adelaide Strikers. His partnership with England’s head coach Brendon McCullum from 2016-19 earned them the moniker ‘Bash Bros’. During his time with the Strikers, Lynn scored 950 runs at an impressive strike rate of 153.

Hawks’ Director of Cricket, Giles White, expressed his delight at Lynn’s joining, stating, “We are delighted to have Chris with us for the back half of the Blast. His experience and explosive batting gives us a big boost.”

The Hampshire Hawks are set to return to action on July 5 against Sussex Sharks at the 1st Central County Ground, Hove. Fans can enjoy thrilling matches with a special four-match bundle offer, in addition to affordable ticket options for upcoming games.
