Press Release: Rising Stars Shine in England Women’s Development and Select XI Squads
In an exciting showcase of talent, England’s cricketing future is set to take center stage as Maia Bouchier, an opening batter who has amassed an impressive 524 runs for Rose and Crown this summer, joins the England Select XI squad. Bouchier will compete against India A in a 50-over match and T20 at Beckenham.
The Select XI 50-over team also features prominent players like Durham captain Hollie Armitage, Alice Davidson-Richards of Surrey, and Sarah Glenn from The Blaze. Meanwhile, the T20 squad includes rising stars such as Eva Gray from Essex, Bryony Smith representing Surrey, and Durham’s Mady Villiers.
Bouchier’s inclusion is complemented by four Hampshire cricketers in the England Women’s Development squad: swing bowler Daisy Gibb, batter Abi Norgrove, and off-spinner Ava Lee. This squad is set to face New Zealand A at Loughborough, aiming to strengthen their claims for future national selection. Other notable names in the Development squad include Georgie Boyce (The Blaze), Phoebe Brett (Warwickshire), and Mahika Gaur (Lancashire).
These matches not only provide a platform for young domestic players to shine but also offer an opportunity for the visiting Indian team to prepare for their upcoming Metro Bank ODI and Vitality IT20 series. The ECB Development XI is scheduled to face NZ A on June 20, while the Select XI will meet India A on June 24 and 25, marking a pivotal moment for emerging talent and international cricket alike.
As the cricketing season unfolds, all eyes will be on these matches, where the future stars of women’s cricket will aim to impress on a grand stage.
