Critical Injury Reported at Lindt Chocolate Factory in Stratham, NH
Stratham, New Hampshire (WBZ) — A serious incident occurred at the Lindt chocolate factory on Monday, resulting in critical injuries to a man trapped between a tractor-trailer and an 18-wheeler. Stratham Fire Chief Jeffrey Denton reported that emergency crews responded to the scene at approximately noon, finding the individual in a precarious position.
Footage from a WBZ-TV helicopter showed state police investigating the scene, with support from North Hampton and Exeter fire departments. Rescuers worked swiftly and successfully freed the man, who was then transported to a local hospital and remains in critical condition. Denton commended the emergency medical service (EMS) crews from all three departments for their collaborative efforts, stating they managed to re-establish a pulse.
The man’s identity has yet to be disclosed, and further details surrounding the incident remain scarce. “We are hopeful that this patient will make a full recovery from his injuries,” Denton added.
A spokesperson for Lindt & Sprüngli confirmed that the incident involved a third-party truck driver and emphasized that the company is fully cooperating with authorities. “Out of respect for the individual’s privacy, we are unable to share additional details,” the spokesperson stated, reinforcing that safety is the company’s top priority.
Lindt’s Stratham factory, operational since 1989, produces over 50,000 tons of chocolate annually.
