Press Release: Two Recent Outdoor Incidents in New Hampshire Highlight Safety Concerns
BARTLETT, NH – A Massachusetts woman was injured on Sunday when a dead tree fell on her while she was hiking in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m., approximately half a mile from the Attitash Trailhead, in Bartlett. New Hampshire Fish and Game officers, along with an ambulance from the Bartlett area, arrived at the scene within an hour. The woman was subsequently transported to a local hospital for evaluation, though no further details regarding her condition have been released.
In a separate incident, a 63-year-old man from North Hampton was seriously injured in an ATV crash in Dixville, New Hampshire. While riding with a group, the ATV lost control on loose gravel and collided with a large rock. New Hampshire Fish and Game attributed the crash to inexperience and excessive speed. Officers emphasized the importance of operating off-highway recreational vehicles (OHRVs) safely, urging operators to be mindful of trail conditions, hazards, and to control their speed to avoid accidents.
These recent incidents serve as a reminder for outdoor enthusiasts to prioritize safety and exercise caution while enjoying the state’s natural beauty. New Hampshire Fish and Game encourages everyone to adhere to guidelines for safe recreation.
