New Hampshire Weather Forecast: Sunday Showers and Thunderstorms

Intense Heat and Thunderstorms Hit New Hampshire

June 22, 2025 – Residents of New Hampshire are bracing for a mix of thunderstorms followed by a dangerous heat wave as temperatures are set to soar into the upper 90s starting Sunday afternoon. A Heat Advisory is already in effect for much of southern New Hampshire, with an Extreme Heat Watch issued for Monday and Tuesday.

Sunday morning kicked off with showers and thunderstorms due to a system sweeping through the region. Meteorologist Matt Hoenig reported that upstate New York is experiencing severe weather, while New Hampshire will mostly see localized rain and potentially gusty winds until about 9 AM. Following the storms, the sun will emerge, with temperatures expected to reach the mid-80s north and lower 90s south, though high humidity will make it feel even hotter.

The situation worsens on Monday and Tuesday, as temperatures rise into the 90s, making the heat index feel like 100-105 degrees in several areas. Coastal regions may find some relief from a sea breeze, but inland areas will face oppressive heat, prompting officials to advise caution against outdoor activities, especially during peak hours.

On Wednesday, while highs will remain warm, cloud cover and showers will signal a shift toward cooler weather by late week. Residents are urged to prepare for the intense heat and stay hydrated in the days ahead.
