Press Release: Two Children Hospitalized After Serious Pedestrian Accident in Manchester, NH
Manchester, NH – June 12, 2025 – Two children remain hospitalized with critical injuries following a shocking incident Thursday evening on Belmont Street. A silver sedan careened through the area, striking a 12-year-old girl on a bike and a 12-month-old girl in a stroller before crashing into another vehicle and a pole at the intersection of Belmont and Hanover Streets.
Eyewitnesses described the horrifying scene, with one local mother recounting how the car barreled around the corner, hitting the girls, who were on an evening walk with their father. "I saw the car come around the corner and just barrel into the little girl," she stated. The impact hurled the children several feet, with the father reportedly screaming for his baby amid the chaos.
Authorities have indicated that the driver, who was taken away by ambulance, was intoxicated and may have been fleeing from a disturbance. Reports of gunfire in the neighborhood were received shortly before the accident occurred.
Manchester Police Chief Peter Marr confirmed no arrests had been made as investigations continue. A section of Belmont Street from Lake Avenue to Spruce Street has been closed for further inquiry.
Both children are currently in critical condition, and the community is rallying around their families during this traumatic time. The driver’s identity has not yet been disclosed as authorities gather more information.
Further updates will be provided as the investigation unfolds.
