Orlando Bloom Reveals Costly Blood Treatment to Remove Microplastics
Actor Orlando Bloom recently took to Instagram to disclose a transformative procedure he underwent at a London clinic, aimed at eliminating microplastics from his body. The star, known for his roles in The Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean, shared a relaxed snap from the clinic, expressing gratitude to Clarify Clinics for their innovative treatment. He described it as "a new way of removing microplastics and toxic chemicals from our bodies."
Microplastics have become an increasing concern in recent years, with studies indicating that humans inadvertently consume and inhale these tiny particles through seafood and environmental exposure. National Geographic reported that seafood enthusiasts could ingest up to 11,000 plastic particles annually, primarily from fish and shellfish. Alarmingly, scientists have found plastic fragments even in human lungs and blood, revealing the extent of this emerging health crisis.
Bloom’s treatment, reportedly costing £9,750 and lasting two hours, involves a process called apheresis, which separates plasma from blood cells. According to the clinic, this “Clari procedure” efficiently removes 90 to 99 percent of microplastics and harmful substances without adding anything back into the bloodstream. However, health experts like Dick Vethaak caution about the long-term effects of microplastics, especially those present in the air we breathe.
The revelation has sparked a mixed reaction on social media. While some fans are intrigued, others question the sustainability of such a treatment, with comments like, "The microplastics will be back in the next whatever he consumes," highlighting concerns about the temporary nature of the procedure. As awareness about microplastics grows, such treatments may soon become more mainstream among health-conscious individuals.
