Altoona Curve Snap Losing Streak with 11-5 Victory over Fisher Cats
MANCHESTER, NH — The Altoona Curve clinched their final match in a six-game series against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats with an emphatic 11-5 win on Sunday, ending a frustrating five-game losing streak.
After struggling offensively throughout the week, the Curve found their rhythm, scoring six runs on five hits in a decisive fifth inning that flipped a 1-0 deficit into a commanding lead. Key contributions came from Kervin Pichardo, who hit a two-run single, and Brenden Dixon, whose double with the bases loaded pushed two more runs across the plate.
The Curve further asserted their dominance by adding three runs in the sixth, highlighted by Aaron McKeithan’s first home run of the season, and two additional runs in the seventh. McKeithan finished the day with three hits, while Imanol Vargas also stood out with three hits and an RBI. Mitch Jebb, Termarr Johnson, and Brenden Dixon added two hits each, helping the team achieve a season-high tally of 11 runs on 17 hits.
Earlier in the series, the Curve faced challenges, getting swept in a doubleheader on Saturday, losing 4-0 and 5-2, with Saturday’s opener featuring a no-hitter by New Hampshire’s Rafael Sanchez.
The Curve look to build on this victory as they return to PNG Field on Tuesday to face the Erie SeaWolves, with first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m.
