Hampton, N.H. – Arrest Made in Fatal Wrong-Way Crash Incident
Authorities have arrested Keoma Duarte, 40, in connection with the death of Endicott College public safety officer Jeremy Cole, who was killed in a wrong-way collision on November 27. New Hampshire police issued an arrest warrant for Duarte, who was apprehended in Bristol County on May 28 after more than six months of investigation.
During his arraignment at New Bedford District Court, Duarte waived his right to extradition. On Tuesday, New Hampshire State Police transferred him back to New Hampshire to face charges related to the tragic accident. Duarte was officially arraigned at Hampton District Court on Wednesday.
He faces several serious charges, including motor vehicle homicide while under the influence of alcohol, manslaughter, and motor vehicle homicide by reckless operation in Massachusetts. Additionally, he faces two felony counts of reckless conduct and a misdemeanor charge of disobeying an officer in New Hampshire.
This case highlights the dangers of impaired and reckless driving, with authorities urging caution on the roads. The incident has deepened community concerns regarding public safety and the need for stricter enforcement of driving laws. The judicial process will now unfold as the charges are adjudicated in court.
