Storms Cause Flooding and Damage in New Hampshire Communities

Hillsborough, N.H. — Several communities in New Hampshire are grappling with the aftermath of severe storms that hit on Friday, leading to significant flooding and road damage. Henniker Highway and Road Management announced that their crews are currently engaged in road repairs, urging drivers to exercise caution amidst forecasts of additional rain on Saturday.

Notably, part of Route 9 in Hillsborough was closed for hours due to floodwaters, compelling officials to cancel the graduation ceremony at Hillsboro-Deering High School. Center Road in Hillsborough remains closed from Hillcat Drive to Jones Road as crews continue to assess the situation.

In Antrim, local fire department officials reported extensive damage, including a significant washout on Mountainside Drive that impacted nearby homes and vehicles, with the area receiving nearly four inches of rain. Roads, particularly Liberty Farm, Stacy Hill, Reed Carr, and Farmstead Roads, suffered the most extensive damage.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for southwestern New Hampshire, lasting through Saturday evening. Residents are advised to stay informed about weather developments by downloading the free WMUR app, which offers real-time alerts and updates. As communities focus on recovery, local agencies are working diligently to restore normalcy in affected areas.
