Intense Weather Expected in NH This Friday

Severe Storms Sweep Through New Hampshire

MANCHESTER, N.H. — A series of strong storms has been impacting New Hampshire, prompting numerous weather warnings across the state. Severe thunderstorm warnings were initiated around 2:45 p.m., with new alerts issued as some expired. Flash flood warnings were also activated, with notices for Henniker and Hillsborough scheduled to expire at 8 p.m. and 8:45 p.m., respectively.

The National Weather Service reports wind gusts reaching 60 mph and hail as significant hazards associated with these storms. A flood watch is currently in effect across New Hampshire, with the exception of Coos County, expected to last well into the evening. Showers and thunderstorms are anticipated to persist, especially affecting central and southern regions.

Meteorologists warn that the most severe weather is likely to occur between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m., with localized flooding concerns due to potential downpours. Some areas may receive up to 3 inches of rain, exacerbating the flooding risk. The storms are attributed to a nearby front, which may bring more rain on Saturday—marking the 12th consecutive Saturday with measurable precipitation in Concord.

As conditions improve on Sunday, residents can look forward to sunnier skies, lower humidity, and comfortable temperatures in the 70s. Citizens are encouraged to stay informed through the WMUR app for real-time weather updates.
