Driver Arrested After Crash Knocks Out Power in Downtown Concord
CONCORD, NH — A late-night incident on Tuesday resulted in the arrest of a driver following a crash that left several Downtown Concord businesses without power. The driver, a man in his early 30s, lost control of his Lexus at approximately 10:45 p.m., colliding with a utility pole and a speed sign on Storrs Street, according to local police reports.
The event was first reported by an employee at Tandy’s Top Shelf, who heard a loud bang while disposing of garbage. Following the crash, an officer on the scene confirmed significant damage to the utility pole as well as a loss of power to nearby businesses. Fire and rescue teams were dispatched to assist.
While the driver sustained facial injuries, initial reports indicate he passed a field sobriety test conducted by the police. Several witnesses, including a man in his mid-20s, were interviewed as part of the investigation, which saw additional police units requested for evidence gathering.
By around 11 p.m., the driver was taken into custody on a possession charge, with a tow truck called to retrieve the damaged vehicle. The police also arranged for a cab to transport a female passenger to Manchester. A video of the incident was shared on social media, and news outlets are awaiting confirmation of the driver’s identity and charges. More updates from Concord NH Patch are expected as information becomes available.
