Crash on Hooksett Road Causes Closure in Manchester, New Hampshire

Utility Pole Crash Closes Hooksett Road, Causes Commute Delays

MANCHESTER, N.H. — A busy section of Hooksett Road was closed on Wednesday due to a crash that downed a utility pole, leaving live wires strewn across the street. The closure, affecting the route between Livingston Park and Beech Street, necessitated immediate repairs by utility crews, disrupting traffic during the evening commute.

Fortunately, the pole remained upright, minimizing power loss to nearby businesses, which experienced only a brief outage when crews temporarily shut off electricity to manage the downed wires safely. However, cleanup efforts extended into peak traffic hours, leading to significant delays for commuters.

Local residents voiced their frustrations. Vanessa Foden, a Manchester resident, remarked on the challenging navigation due to multiple road closures. "It was very tricky to get here," she stated, noting reliance on GPS. Similarly, Amber Smith from Londonderry reported her commute taking nearly three times longer than usual, citing detours as the reason.

Manchester police are investigating the incident, which remains unclear. They confirmed that the driver of the SUV fled the scene immediately following the crash.

As utility crews work to restore normalcy, commuters are urged to seek alternative routes and stay informed through traffic update services. Further details regarding the incident are yet to be released.
