Stuart Trachy Appointed to New Hampshire Lottery Commission
Franklin, NH – Stuart Trachy has been confirmed as the newest member of the New Hampshire Lottery Commission by the state’s Executive Council. His appointment aligns with the impending retirement of Debra Douglas, the long-serving chair, who has led the commission for 15 years.
Trachy, a former mayor of Franklin and current Merrimack County Commissioner, will serve a three-year term on the commission alongside two other members. In expressing gratitude for the appointment, Trachy stated, “I’m very grateful to Governor Ayotte for the opportunity and the confidence that she and the Executive Council have shown in me.” He aims to leverage his extensive experience in both local and state government, as well as in private business, to enhance the commission’s contributions to New Hampshire.
He highlighted the Lottery Commission’s significance, noting, “It’s one of the largest revenue operations for the state of New Hampshire, and I look at it as a challenge to help the commission increase those numbers.” The commission oversees the regulatory aspects of the lottery and gaming, though decisions regarding the expansion of gaming activities lie with the state legislature.
The commission is set to convene soon to elect a new chairperson, marking a pivotal transition as it embarks on new initiatives under Trachy’s leadership.
