Boy Dies, Girl Injured Critically

Tragic Crash Claims Life of 13-Year-Old in Stolen Vehicle Incident

BEDFORD, N.H. — A 13-year-old boy tragically lost his life early Wednesday morning following a crash in a stolen food delivery vehicle, as confirmed by Manchester Police. The incident began around 12:50 a.m. when a food delivery driver reported his 2014 Toyota Corolla stolen after leaving it unattended on Clifford Avenue.

An hour later, Manchester police spotted the vehicle and initiated a pursuit, but it was terminated on the highway as the vehicle accelerated away. At approximately 2 a.m., New Hampshire State Police located the car in Bedford, where it had crashed. Both the boy, who was driving, and a 14-year-old girl passenger were ejected from the vehicle due to not wearing seat belts. Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with one bystander recalling screams for help.

The boy was pronounced dead after being transported to the hospital, while the girl sustained serious injuries. The victim was a student at Southside Middle School in Manchester, prompting Superintendent Jennifer Chmiel to express condolences and announce the provision of grief counseling resources for students and staff.

Authorities closed the Kilton Road on- and off-ramps to Route 101 for several hours during the investigation, reopening them around 7:15 a.m. The tragedy has sent shockwaves through the community, leading to increased discussions about vehicle safety and the consequences of reckless behavior among teens.
