Witness Antonio Rivero described being on the boat when it ignited, suggesting a possible gas leak as the ignition source. He suffered burns himself while his family also remained hospitalized but stable. Witnesses reported a chaotic scene, with individuals suffering from severe burn injuries. Bret Triano and Marisa Toomesn, who were nearby, helped rescue victims from the water, recalling a particularly desperate plea from one man for water due to his burns.
Authorities, including the U.S. Coast Guard and local law enforcement, responded to the scene, examining the boat tied to a nearby seawall. Among the rescues, a dog onboard was retrieved unharmed. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and fire officials will continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the explosion.
