U.S. Marshals Locate Four New Hampshire Children in California After Custody Dispute
ROCHESTER, N.H. — Four children from Rochester, New Hampshire, who were taken by their mother after a custody ruling, have been safely found in Ontario, California, according to authorities. The U.S. Marshals announced the discovery on Wednesday following a months-long investigation.
In February, a court awarded legal custody of the children to their maternal aunt, Shayntel Cormier. After failing to comply with the court’s order on February 10 to hand over the children, their mother, 31-year-old Kristy-anna Hall, was believed to have left the state. The Rochester Police Department subsequently initiated an investigation, leading to tips that Hall and the children might be in California.
Investigators located the children at a motel in Ontario, and they were swiftly flown back to Boston, where they were reunited with their aunt. Cormier emphasized, "The goal is just that the kids have what they need in the moment."
Meanwhile, Hall acknowledged being informed about an arrest warrant and stated that she revealed the children’s location to the authorities. She mentioned filing a motion to vacate the warrant, asserting that the guardianship was unnecessary and that the situation had been detrimental to her children.
As of now, Hall remains wanted, with extradition limits applying only to New England states. The U.S. Marshals are requesting anyone with information regarding her whereabouts to contact local law enforcement or their agency.
