Maine Man Injured in Tractor-Trailer Rollover on I-95 On-Ramp
Portsmouth, N.H. – A Maine man suffered minor injuries following a tractor-trailer rollover on an Interstate 95 on-ramp.
On Thursday morning at 7:58 a.m., New Hampshire State Police responded to a crash involving a tractor-trailer at the entrance from the Portsmouth Traffic Circle to I-95 Northbound. Preliminary investigations revealed that 54-year-old Dean A. Merritt, from Old Orchard Beach, was driving a 2014 Peterbilt 388 truck, which was towing a 2003 Heil trailer filled with concrete mixing dust.
Merritt reportedly failed to navigate a curve, resulting in the truck and trailer overturning and crossing the left shoulder of the on-ramp. Responding troopers assisted Merritt out of the vehicle, after which he was transported to a local hospital to treat his minor injuries. He has been cited for negligent driving.
The incident prompted a closure of the on-ramp for approximately four hours as investigations were conducted and debris was cleared. Traffic resumed normally at 12:03 p.m. following the scene’s clearance.
Authorities continue to emphasize the importance of cautious driving, especially in challenging road conditions. Further details on the incident are pending as the investigation continues.
