Residents, like Sherinah Peck, faced severe challenges; her belongings were swept away, and while searching for family items, she suffered injuries after being knocked over by a distressed cow.
Rescue operations are ongoing, with 2,500 emergency personnel deployed to assist. Helicopter rescues have saved 22 people, while conditions remain critical for those stranded. Australia’s Bureau of Meteorology forecasts up to 8 inches of additional rain, posing continued threats of flash flooding as the weather system is expected to track south toward Sydney. As communities brace for more challenges, officials are focused on supporting displaced individuals.
