Fatal Crash in Ossipee, N.H., Claims Life of 80-Year-Old Woman

OSSIPEE, N.H. — A tragic accident on Route 28 in Ossipee on Friday has resulted in the death of 80-year-old Dorothy Marshall, a local resident. The incident occurred around noon when Marshall’s 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe collided with a 2005 Mack dump truck driven by 54-year-old Robert Gifford of Rochester.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene following reports of the crash. Initial investigations revealed that Gifford was traveling northbound when he lost control of the truck, which subsequently rolled over and struck Marshall’s vehicle, heading in the opposite direction. In response to the severity of the incident, the State Police and a Collision Analysis and Reconstruction (C.A.R.) Unit were called in to assist with the investigation.

Authorities have arrested Gifford and charged him with aggravated driving while intoxicated. He is currently held on bail and is set to be arraigned on Monday, May 19.
