Nicolas Cage Talks Identity Confusion with Nick Cave
In a recent interview with The Guardian, iconic actor Nicolas Cage opened up about frequently being mistaken for Australian musician Nick Cave. Despite the difference in their careers, the two share a similar name, leading to the confusion. "I don’t think there’s a day that goes by where I’m not mistaken for Nick Cave," Cage admitted, adding that people often mistakenly praise him for Cave’s performance in The Hunger, a 1983 film featuring David Bowie.
Cage reminisced about a memorable encounter with Cave at an animal sanctuary in Texas, where he jokingly pointed out their names’ similarities. "Only one letter separates us – G. Nick Cave, Nick Cage," he remarked, highlighting the humor in their mix-ups.
While Cage boasts a prolific acting career, Cave is well-known as the frontman of the rock band Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, contributing to documentaries like the Grammy-nominated One More Time with Feeling. This mix-up, however, doesn’t dampen Cage’s enthusiasm for the entertainment industry.
Interestingly, Cage reflected on the irony of not being confused with John Travolta, his co-star from the iconic film Face/Off. Fans still joke about the duo, but Cage confirmed that he hasn’t lost interest in a potential sequel. He shared thoughts on revisiting the film, emphasizing its potential for new twists, especially involving their characters’ offspring.
As Cage continues to navigate his unique career, he remains open to addressing fans’ confusions with humor, proving that even Hollywood stars are not immune to identity mix-ups.
Face/Off is currently streaming on Paramount+.
