Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued for Southern New Hampshire

MANCHESTER, N.H.—The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of southern New Hampshire, particularly affecting Hillsborough and Rockingham Counties, effective until 4:45 p.m. Additionally, a severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 8 p.m. for Belknap, Merrimack, Sullivan, Rockingham, Strafford, Cheshire, and Hillsborough counties.

Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop Saturday afternoon, with potential for severe storms, particularly in southern regions of the state. Residents should be prepared for gusty winds, small hail, and significant lightning strikes accompanying any storms. Areas further north can anticipate cooler temperatures in the 60s, along with steady light rain throughout the day.

As the storms are expected to wane by the evening, cloudy conditions will persist overnight, bringing patchy fog and drizzle, with temperatures falling into the 50s. Sunday will continue the trend of cooler weather, with temperatures lingering in the 50s to lower 60s, although communities near and north of Route 2 may experience dry conditions in the afternoon.

Further rain and cloud cover are anticipated into Monday and Tuesday, maintaining the seasonably cool temperatures. Residents are encouraged to stay informed and download the free WMUR app for real-time updates and weather alerts specific to their area.
