Tragic Drowning Incident Claims Life of Raymond Teenager
RAYMOND, N.H. – A 15-year-old boy from Raymond was found dead in Governors Lake Sunday morning following an apparent drowning. New Hampshire Fish and Game officials reported that the tragedy occurred around midnight when four teenagers capsized while canoeing. While three of the individuals managed to reach the shore and sought help, their friend failed to resurface.
Emergency responders initiated a search in the early hours, and around 8 a.m., conservation officers located the boy’s body approximately 30 to 60 feet from shore in about nine feet of water. Authorities noted that the teenager was not wearing a life jacket at the time of the incident. The New Hampshire State Police – Marine Patrol indicated that they believe the drowning was accidental, although they are continuing to investigate.
Residents of the area expressed their shock and sorrow over the incident. Kyle Bergeron, a local resident, remarked on the unusual presence of emergency vehicles in his neighborhood, emphasizing the profound impact of the tragedy. Another resident, Gayle Blackwood, reflected on her feelings of deep sadness for the boy’s family and the community’s grief.
