Tragic Canoe Accident Claims Life of Teen in New Hampshire
Raymond, NH – A tragic incident unfolded on Saturday night when a canoe carrying four teenagers capsized at Governor’s Lake, leading to the death of a 15-year-old boy. Rescue divers from the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department recovered the boy’s body around 8 a.m. Sunday morning, approximately 30 feet from shore and without a life jacket.
Emergency responders were alerted just before midnight on Saturday after reports that one of the teens was missing following the canoe overturning. The victim’s identity is currently being withheld pending an autopsy scheduled for Monday to confirm the cause of death. Authorities initially believe the death to be accidental, but investigations by the New Hampshire State Police’s Marine Patrol are ongoing.
The search and recovery operation involved several agencies, including the Raymond Police Department, Raymond Fire Department, and Raymond Ambulance. Multiple divers and rescue teams worked diligently to locate the missing teen in the early hours of Sunday.
