Three weeks after a massive earthquake struck Myanmar, basic services have not yet been fully restored in the hardest hit areas. A report by the United Nations stated that frequent aftershocks are still being felt, which is causing fear and disrupting response efforts. The earthquake, which had a magnitude of 7.7, caused significant damage in six regions and states, exacerbating an existing humanitarian crisis in the country. The death toll from the quake has reached 3,726, with thousands more injured or missing. Thousands of buildings, schools, and hospitals were damaged, leading to a massive amount of debris that needs to be cleared. International and local rescue teams have been working together to recover bodies and assist survivors, but the number of rescue teams has been decreasing as some international workers return to their countries. The government is also planning to redesign the urban layout of Naypyitaw, the capital, which was heavily affected by the earthquake. Despite challenges, individuals in affected areas have been clearing debris and trying to rebuild their lives.
