Goodlander opts out of challenging Pappas for US Senate in New Hampshire

Representative Maggie Goodlander, a potential Democratic contender for the 2026 US Senate race in New Hampshire, announced that she will not challenge fellow Democrat Chris Pappas for their party’s nomination. Goodlander, who is in her first term in Congress, has decided to run for reelection in the House instead and has endorsed Pappas for the Senate seat being vacated by Senator Jeanne Shaheen. Pappas, who is in his fourth term in the House, is currently the only Democratic candidate formally running for the Senate seat.

On the Republican side, potential contenders include former US Senator Scott Brown and former Governor Christopher T. Sununu, who recently announced that he will not be launching a campaign for the Senate seat. With Goodlander’s decision not to run for Senate, Pappas solidifies his position as the early Democratic favorite for the race. This is a developing story and updates will be provided.
