Plane carrying 6 passengers crashes in New York with no survivors

A private plane crashed in Columbia County, New York, killing all six people on board. The passengers included John Santoro’s son James, MIT graduate Karenna Groff, her parents Dr. Michael Groff and Dr. Joy Saini, Karenna’s brother Jared Groff, and Jared’s partner Alexia Couyutas Duarte. The plane crashed into a field near Copake while attempting a second landing at Columbia County Airport. The experienced pilot had abandoned a previous landing attempt and was flying by instrument in snowy conditions. The crash investigation revealed that the aircraft was severely damaged upon impact and that there were no survivors. The plane, a Mitsubishi MU-2B, had been recently upgraded with advanced avionics. The video footage of the crash is being reviewed by investigators, although it is unlikely to be released to the public. The aircraft was registered to Dynamic Spine Solutions LLC, owned by Dr. Michael Groff. The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office has not confirmed the identities of those on board. The tragedy has left the community in mourning for the loss of the six individuals who were traveling to a family holiday celebration.
