The Winni Players Community Theatre in Meredith is bringing a traditional radio play of “Treasure Island” to the Winnipesaukee Playhouse stage from March 27-30. The live reading will transport attendees back in time to the era when radio dramas were popular and families gathered around to listen to their favorite stories. Directed by Brendan Berube, the production will feature a cast of 12 actors reenacting Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic tale of young Jim Hawkins who discovers a map of a pirate treasure island in the mid-1700s. Along with the infamous Long John Silver, they must navigate mutinous pirates to claim the treasure. The actors will also provide live Foley sound effects, adding to the immersive experience of the radio play. Performances will take place Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets can be purchased on the Winnipesaukee Playhouse website or by phone. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to enjoy a classic story brought to life in a nostalgic format.
