Trump selects Sean Duffy as his choice for transportation secretary

President-elect Donald Trump has selected former congressman and Fox Business host Sean Duffy as his choice for transportation secretary in his upcoming administration. Duffy is the second Fox host Trump has chosen for a Cabinet position, after announcing Pete Hegseth as his nominee for the Defense Department.

Trump praised Duffy as a respected voice in the Republican Party during his time in Congress, advocating for fiscal responsibility, economic growth, and rural development. He emphasized Duffy’s experience in maintaining and rebuilding the nation’s infrastructure and improving the travel experience for all Americans.

Trump also mentioned Duffy’s plans to eliminate diversity, equity, and inclusion programs for pilots and air traffic controllers to make the skies safer. The transportation secretary post requires Senate confirmation and oversees approximately 58,000 workers.

Duffy served in Congress from 2011 to 2019, where he was a member of the Financial Services Committee and chairman of a subcommittee on oversight and investigations. Before his political career, he worked as a special prosecutor and district attorney in Wisconsin.

Duffy gained attention for his appearance on the reality TV show “The Real World: Boston” in 1997. He is married to Rachel Campos-Duffy, who also appeared on the show in 1994. Duffy’s departure from Fox News was announced as he transitions to his new role in the Trump administration.
