Maggie Goodlander and Lily Tang Williams are both candidates in the running to fill the open U.S. House of Representatives seat in New Hampshire’s 2nd Congressional District. The seat became vacant when six-term U.S. Rep. Ann L. McLane Kuster announced she was stepping down in March.
Goodlander, who grew up in Nashua, has a background in public service, including working as a law clerk on the U.S. Supreme Court and as a foreign policy adviser in the U.S. Senate. She has also taught law at UNH and Dartmouth, served on several boards, and worked on important political issues such as corporate monopolies and voting rights. Her priorities include fighting for voting rights, finance reform, government accountability, women’s and LGBTQ+ rights, education, the environment, the economy, and small businesses.
On the other hand, Tang Williams, who escaped communism in China to seek freedom in the United States, is running on a platform focused on citizen’s rights to freedom and democracy. She manages rental properties and is a professional speaker on China-related cases. Her priorities include growing the economy, securing the border, protecting the Second Amendment, eliminating the U.S. Department of Education, protecting social security, and supporting state regulations on abortion.
Both candidates offer unique backgrounds and perspectives, and voters in New Hampshire’s 2nd Congressional District have an important decision to make in choosing their next representative.
