In his economic speech, Trump accuses big companies of ‘robbing our nation’

Former President Donald Trump delivered an economic address in Detroit where he criticized the U.S. for allowing “big companies” to come in and “raid and rape” the country. He did not specify which companies he was referring to, but mentioned businesses that export goods made overseas to the U.S. Trump proposed offering incentives for companies outside the U.S. to open factories in America, including low taxes, energy costs, and regulatory burdens, but only if they hire American workers.

His campaign spokesperson later mentioned plans for a 15% corporate tax rate for companies producing goods in America and tariffs for foreign companies. This proposal has been a central part of Trump’s economic plan, despite his own history of manufacturing Trump-branded products overseas.

This is not the first time Trump has used inflammatory language regarding trade with countries like China, accusing them of “raping” the U.S. during his 2016 campaign. Additionally, Trump faced a rape claim in civil court filed by E. Jean Carroll, which he denied. Although a jury found Trump not liable for rape, he was found liable for sexually abusing and defaming Carroll, resulting in an ongoing appeal of the verdicts.
