Nicholas Carter, a man convicted of assaulting a 14-month-old child, attempted to flee a courthouse in Skowhegan, Maine but was quickly stopped by two jurors and a detective. Carter, 31, ran out of the courthouse while still handcuffed after being found guilty of aggravated assault. Security footage captured him sprinting down a hallway, dodging attempts to block him, and escaping the building. He was then seen running across a parking lot before tripping and falling in a yard where he was apprehended by the two jurors and a detective. The incident occurred after a three-day trial at the Somerset County Superior Courthouse. A sentencing hearing for the aggravated assault conviction is expected to take place in the near future.
